Project summary

EPIO Flourish DIG at the Department for Digital Health Research (DIG) is a sub-project under the main project “Delivery of an eHealth intervention for under-resourced adults with chronic pain (Flourish Study – project leader Eleshia J. Morrison, PhD)” at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.

Approximately one-third of adults in Norway as well as the USA live with chronic pain, and research highlights health disparities also within pain management for various marginalized population groups.

In the Flourish study, researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota will investigate whether the English version of the Department of Digital Health Research’s own digital pain management program, EPIO, can be perceived as useful for people who identify as ‘Black’ or ‘LGBTQ+’ and live with chronic pain in the USA. Researchers at the Department of Digital Health Research are collaborators in the study.

The EPIO Flourish DIG project gathers encrypted data on EPIO system usage, managed by the University of Oslo’s Services for Sensitive Data. The Department of Digital Health Research is responsible for the digital solution and will analyze the de-identified data related to system usage after the study is completed.
